Powered industrial truck procurement includes more than selecting a rated capacity. A buyer also needs a clear review of operator training, workplace controls, inspections and the operating limits documented for the proposed equipment. This guide summarizes the questions to prepare before requesting supplier confirmation.

What to Review Before Quotation

Record the load weight and dimensions, lift height, aisle and doorway clearances, floor conditions, ramps, pedestrian routes, duty cycle and charging or fueling arrangements. These inputs help the supplier identify the correct configuration and the documents needed for the application.

OSHA provides general powered industrial truck resources covering operator training, safe operation and related workplace responsibilities. The source is general guidance; it does not approve a particular model or supplier.

Training and Workplace Controls

Ask who will operate the equipment, what site-specific hazards are present and how refresher training and inspections will be managed. Pedestrian separation, visibility, parking, speed control and load stability should be addressed in the site procedure and equipment manual.

RFQ Checklist

  1. Load and load-centre information.
  2. Required lift height and capacity documentation.
  3. Route, floor, ramp and traffic details.
  4. Shift pattern and energy access.
  5. Destination-country documentation requirements.
  6. Supplier confirmation of the quoted configuration.
