Start With the Load Geometry
Paper rolls are cylindrical loads, so a handling plan must account for more than gross weight. Roll diameter, width, core, surface condition, support method, route, and floor all affect the equipment configuration that should be reviewed before procurement.
China Forklift Export’s WQ20-Z is listed as a walk-behind electric pallet truck for cylindrical and roll materials. It has a 2,000 kg rated load and a 200 mm listed lift height. The correct configuration still needs to be confirmed against the actual roll and route.
- Maximum and typical gross roll weight
- Roll diameter, width, core, wrapping, and surface sensitivity
- Support method: pallet, cradle, saddle, core support, or another fixture
- Loading and unloading height and route conditions
Two rolls with the same weight may require different support because their diameters, widths, cores, and surfaces are different. A rated capacity is a first filter, not proof that a truck is suitable for every roll.
WQ20-Z Listed Technical Data
The following values are taken from the approved WQ20-Z technical parameter sheet. They describe the listed truck configuration and should be checked against the latest model documentation before an order is placed.
| Parameter | Listed value |
|---|---|
| Product model | WQ20-Z |
| Model code | CBD20WQ-Z |
| Drive / operation | Electric / walk-behind |
| Rated load | 2,000 kg |
| Vehicle length | 1,650 mm |
| Vehicle width | 550 / 685 mm |
| Vehicle height | 1,250 mm |
| Listed lift height | 200 mm |
| Fork size | 56 x 160 x 1,150 mm |
| Fork outer width | 550 / 685 mm |
| Wheel type | PU / polyurethane |
| Travel speed, full load / empty | 3.5 / 4 km/h |
| Gradeability, full load / empty | 6% / 10% |
| Braking | Electromagnetic braking |
| Drive motor / lift motor | 1 kW / 0.8 kW |
| Battery | Maintenance-free lead-acid, 4 x 12 V / 20 Ah |
| Drive control | DC brushless |
These are listed specifications, not a guarantee of performance in an unreviewed paper mill, converting plant, loading dock, or storage route.
Check the Support Method Before Choosing Equipment
Confirm whether the roll is carried on a pallet, cradle, or other approved support. If a roll is intended to be gripped by its core or outside surface, that is a different equipment question from moving a supported roll with forks.
Do not add clamp pressure, hydraulic pressure, core protection, or damage-prevention claims unless the exact attachment and its operating documentation have been approved. A paper roll clamp, custom cradle, or other attachment should have its own model identity, image, rated limits, and technical evidence before it is presented as an available solution.
Review the Full Route
Review the route from receiving to storage, production, converting, and dispatch. Record the narrowest doorway, aisle and turning area; floor joints, thresholds, dock plates, debris and wet areas; ramps; pedestrian crossings; stopping locations; loading clearances; and temperature, moisture, dust, corrosion and cleaning conditions.
The WQ20-Z sheet lists 6% gradeability at full load and 10% with an empty load. These values must not be extended to a different surface, route, load distribution, or operating method without checking the current operating instructions and completing a site risk assessment.
Equipment Review Framework
- Define the roll. Record weight, dimensions, core, wrapping, surface, and support method.
- Define the route. Measure the full path, not only the storage location.
- Check the load interface. Confirm fork size, fork outer width, clearance, and support points.
- Check the duty cycle. Record moves per shift, travel distance, stops, and charging access.
- Review safety controls. Confirm operator training, visibility, pedestrian separation, braking, parking, and local requirements.
- Request the configuration in writing. Ask the supplier to identify standard, optional, and application-specific items.
What to Include in an RFQ
- Maximum and typical roll weight
- Roll diameter, width, core diameter, and wrapping
- Whether the roll is palletized or supported by a cradle
- Fork entry or support drawing
- Floor type, route conditions, ramp gradient, and turning space
- Moves per hour, distance per move, and shifts per day
- Charging location and electrical supply
- Destination country and required technical documents
- Paper-surface, core, hygiene, temperature, or cleaning constraints
The more complete the load and route information, the easier it is to distinguish a standard pallet truck requirement from a specialized attachment or engineered handling requirement.
Safety and Evidence Boundaries
Operator training, equipment inspections, load stability, workplace traffic, and local risk assessment should follow the current equipment manual and applicable local requirements. The OSHA powered industrial truck resources and UK HSE lift-truck guidance provide general safety references; they are not product approvals and are not a substitute for local legal advice.
This page does not claim a paper-roll damage rate, productivity improvement, return on investment, clamp pressure, hydraulic pressure, food-grade status, ATEX or explosion-proof certification, low-temperature approval, or IP rating for the WQ20-Z. Those claims require model-specific evidence.
Request a Model Recommendation
Share the roll weight, diameter, width, core, support method, route, floor, gradient, travel distance, and duty cycle. China Forklift Export can then identify which listed specifications and technical documents need to be reviewed for the proposed configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the WQ20-Z a paper roll clamp?
The WQ20-Z is listed as a walk-behind electric pallet truck for cylindrical and roll materials. The available technical sheet does not establish a clamp attachment or clamp pressure. Confirm the load support method before ordering.
What is the listed capacity of the WQ20-Z?
The approved technical parameter sheet lists a 2,000 kg rated load. The actual roll, support fixture, load center, route, and operating limits must still be reviewed.
Can the WQ20-Z handle every paper roll?
No universal suitability claim should be made. Confirm roll diameter, width, weight, core, surface, support method, and route conditions for the proposed application.
What information should a paper mill send for a quotation?
Send the maximum and typical roll data, support drawing, route measurements, floor and ramp conditions, travel distance, moves per shift, charging access, destination country, and required technical documents.
